About this Item
8vo. 269p. Foreword by David L. Stitt, President, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Notes, Index of Scripture Passages and Index of Topics and Authors. Grey cloth with purple letters on the front cover and the spine. Very minor wear to extremities, top and bottom of spine just barely beginning to fray, spine slightly darkened, the number 751 at base of spine (apparently a number for a personal library as there is no other evidence of ex-lib), previous owner's rubber stamp on front free endpaper, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. "This valuable contribution to New Testament interpretation is a revision and expansion of a series of addresses by Dr. Minear during the 1950 Annual Midwinter Lectures at the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary." [from the Foreword] Sections of these addresses include the following: Part I. "Behold the Lamb"; Part II. The Eternal Purpose ["I Am the Beginning", I Am the End", and "I AM the Way"]; and Part III. "Thine is the Kingdom and the Power." An insightful work on the relation between the reign of God in Jesus and the institutions of the world. Paul S. Minear was Professor Emeritus of Biblical Theology in Yale University Divinity School. His other books include 'The Bible and the Historian' (2002), 'Christians and the New Creation' (1994), 'New Testament Apocalyptic' (1981), and 'To Heal and to Reveal' (1976), among other titles.
