Although the covers look quite worn and the front hinge feels a little loose, this is actually quite a decent copy of a scarce title. The frontispiece is a striking color depiction of a child afflicted with this parasitic disease. The book is 160 pages in length. There are several black and white full-page photos of patients and one color plate showing microscopic cultures. Near the back is a pull-out map of South India showing the distribution of cases, and several other charts, one also a pull-out. In other words, the book is loaded with interesting graphics. The pages are lightly age-toned but not brittle. A few pencil markings are noted toward the front. A prior owner, one Dr. William Harvey Perkins, has signed the half-title page and dated it 1926. He has also left a wonderful bookplate, with a maiden, a dragon and a caduceus. Good medical history here.

Terms of sale
In addition to payment through Abebooks (the preferred method), payment can be
made via Paypal or personal check or money order for US transactions only. All international sales must be conducted through Abebooks. Paypal does not adjust the exchange rate.
In January 2016 the US postal service changed international shipping rates. Books weighing 2 lbs. or less (packed for shipping) ship at a reasonable rate. The rate for books over this weight has gone up dramatically. For this reason, the bookseller may contact you for extra funds for shipping. This will occur if the book is inexpensive but overweight. You have the opportunity to decline, in which case the sale will be cancelled and your credit card will not be processed.
Checks should be made payable to Lucy Horton. All books are selected and packed with care.
Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on books
weighing 2 lbs.(.09 kg). If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may
contact
you to let you know extra shipping is required.
