In Kentuckea, Dan Hawk is fascinated by the outdoors. After his grandfather teaches him how to survive in the wild, Hawk hunts, traps, and fishes. As his family grows, concerns push Dan away from the outdoors and into the world of business, where he still manages to pass on to his children and grandchildren the traditions he's learned. In between, the novel "is the story of the journey of a woodsman and is based on a true story. It encompasses a romance with a woman, a romance with a creation, and a romance with a creator," according to the author, Carl Miller.
Carl R. Miller, Jr. was raised by his grandparents in a rural Pennsylvania town near the Appalachian Trail. The author got married the year he graduated high school, and together he and his wife have raised three children. A carpenter by trade, the author's great love of the outdoors has always led him to look for more wilderness, which led him his current residence in the Adirondack region of New York. Kentuckea is Miller's first book.
