246pp. Orange cloth-covered boards in price-clipped jacket. Jacket is heavily toned with small losses at corners of front and rear panels and at extremities of spine - the capital "M" in Macmillan at lower margin of spine is affected, but the classic Edward Gorey illustration is bright and unmarred; some tidy tape repairs to reverse. Previous owner's bookplate affixed to front free endpaper, no other markings. Binding is tight and square. The scarce first North American edition of this Vancouver author's most famous book; to our knowledge the only exemplar of the "Salt Spring Island Gothic" genre.
