Fletcher Flora wrote several novels, a good many short stories for mystery magazines, and even three novels under the Ellery Queen name. This lighthearted and witty crime story, "Killing Cousins" (winner of the Cock Robin Mystery Award) came quite late in his career (he died in 1968) and seems to be one of the more difficult of his first editions to find. This copy suffers from the usual browning of the textblock, fairly significant here, but is otherwise a tight, sharp-cornered copy in a very good dust jacket showing just very mild wear to extremities. It looks like the publisher had price-clipped the front flap and printed a new price ($2.95) further down. This price has been covered with a little white sticker. Together with this first edition comes a copy of the UK corrected proof from Cape. This uses the sheets from the American edition, bound into Cape's pink proof wrappers, and was issued to promote the UK edition published in 1961. Browned edges again, but a near fine proof copy.
