The Text Block is clean, creamy white, tight, straight and square, with gilt top-edge, deckled fore-edges, and no markings of any kind other than a small, marginal water stain to the bottom of the first 100 pages. The Binding is full green cloth with debossed image in black of sailing vessel on water to the front board, along with bright gilt title and author also to the front board, gilt title, etc., and smaller debossed image to a somewhat sunned spine, with wear to head and heel of the spine, unmarked off-white endpapers, and corners lightly bumped. No Jacket. See the photos. 460 pages plus 10 unnumbered pages of semi-gloss black and white illustrations. 5 1/2" x 8". The Modern Library ranked Kim No. 78 on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. This picaresque spy novel follows Kim, an orphan in India, after the Second Anglo-Afghan War, as he encounters various segments of Indian society, through his education and training in espionage, to his interaction with Russian intelligence agents, an aspect of the Great Game.
