About this Item
Offered is "Kindness the Crowning Virtue; or, The Christian's Crown and Crowning" written by David C. Cook published in 1898 by the David C. Cook Publishing Company out of Chicago, Illinois. A stapled booklet printed on glossy paper measuring 4-1/8" by 5-1/8" and containing 16 pages including front and rear covers. With four illustrations, including one full-page, the booklet is listed as No. 93 in a series of titles in the catalog entitled "Helpful Letters." These booklets were available to members of the I.A.H. ["I Am His"] Circle from David C. Cook (1850-1927), a leader in the American Sunday school movement who founded his publishing company in Chicago, Illinois, in 1875 to provide affordable educational materials for children left homeless in the Great Chicago Fire (which occurred from October 8-10, 1871). Mr. Cook writes, in short part, "We speak of doing in Jesus' name, and for Him, but little do we realize how closely Jesus is connected with others and with all our deeds. He says, 'Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye did it unto me.' But Jesus' crowning is not for others alone, but also for Himself. To be crowned by Jesus is to be crowned in His heart. Neither is it for others apart from Himself, but as you have been kind to others as unto Him.". Seller Inventory # 013009
