The scarce sixth thousand of this classic adventure. Published in late November 1885, the same year as the first edition, first issue, this is believed to be the third printing (with the three textual misprints of the earlier issues corrected). After the first issue of 1,000 copies, two other issues of 500 copies each were published, followed by rapid further printings in October, November and December 1885. Deep red cloth with black lettering, gilt title lettering to spine. 8vo, 320pp with folding map present opposite title page & 16 pages (2 sheets unopened) of advertised books at rear dated 5G 11.85. Date code beneath last line on p. 320 is 20.1185. Generally very clean. Ink name to half title. Inner hinges strengthened with matching yellow paper from a similar edition from the same year. Presents very well.

Manor Collectables is based in a private Lincolnshire Manor House. It is owned and run by Richard Platt who has been buying and selling rare books for over forty years. Between 2003 and 2014, he was the proprietor of a award-winning bookshop in London. On offer is a small eclectic mixture of fiction and non-fiction items from the owner's private collection. Most books are first editions, many of which are unique and all listings are accompanied by high quality digital images.
