First edition, first printing. First issue with proper textual errors: "Bamamgwato" for "Bamangwato" on p. 10, line 14; "to let twins to live" for "to let twins live" on p. 122, line 27; and "wrod" instead of "word" on p. 307, line 29, and with publisher's catalog dated 5 G. 8.85. In publisher's original red cloth decoratively stamped in black on upper board and spine, and spine titles in gilt; folding map at frontis. Good. Cloth faded at spine, a bit stained and edge worn. Lean to binding. Very subtle repair to spine, tear to map repaired. Previous owner name to front paste down and bookseller emboss to front free endpaper, foxing throughout.
