New York: Harper & Brothers, 1890. Octavo; publisher's green cloth, gilt-lettered spine, brown glazed endpapers; iv,456,[8]pp. Minor scuffing to cloth margins, spine rather significantly scuffed and front hinge weak, ex-contemporary circulation library with manuscript markings to front flyleaf, title page, and first leaf of text, light soil throughout textblock, brief paper flaws to all endpapers, else a Good to Very Good copy. Scarce American edition of Blackmore's melodrama set in his native Middlesex in which lovers Kit and Kitty find themselves repeatedly rent asunder by a scheming stepmother. This copy evidently made the rounds while part of the Stevens Plains, Maine, circulating library.
