Uncommon title, "But We Know Better" by Amabel Williams-Ellis. First edition published 1926. Illustrated by Sir Clough Williams Ellis who was the authors husband and was a notable architect known for creating the village of Portmeirion. Amabel Williams-Ellis (Mary Annabel Nassau Strachey) was a prolific author, editor, and translator who wrote novels, biographies, and science and history books for both children and adults. 295pp, 14x21cm. The cover is a purple cloth material with gold lettering and has signs of wear and tear, consistent with age. Shelf wear and rubbing along the edges, corners, and spine. The cloth cover is discoloured and has some staining or foxing. The color is faded or "sunned" from exposure to light, especially noticeable on the spine and edges. Pages removed from start and end, however main body of book is complete. Spine is loose. There is some minor spotting or foxing visible on pages. Refer to photos.
