This is a UK first edition hardcover published by Andrew Melrose in 1948. The jacket is awful - too much damage to make it anything other that. Please see the last two photos. However the front panel is nearly all there so you can see what the cover looked like. The book is Near Fine with straight spine, sharp corners and firm spine ends. The pages are toned. The copyright page makes no reference to the printing history, but the red boards and available titles opposite the copyright page are consistent with the first edition. Scarce despite the damaged jacket. Seller Inventory # 010281

I charge shipping that reflects my actual costs. I do NOT offer cheap shipping and add it to the book price so please do not complain to me that Bob down the road offers cheaper postage. Sure he does - but the price of his book is hiked to reclaim it, or you're referring to a power seller who can negotiate postage discounts. I can't - I'm a private individual selling my private collection. ABE only allows me to set one postage rate so I charge the rate for hardbacks sent in a box with bubble wrap and polystyrene peanuts. Where postage is less - eg a paperback or small hardback - I refund the difference once I get my receipts and know the exact cost. ALL UK parcels are tracked. if you live outside the UK tracking is NOT provided unless you choose priority mail. PRIORITY MAIL TRACKING IS IMMEDIATELY UPDATED otherwise I will only update ABE with UK tracking details on request, and only when 10 working days has passed. There will be times when, due to the value of the book, I will insist on priority mail and this will be clearly stated in my listing. If you ignore this, your order will be refused.
