Engraved frontispiece portrait. Boston: Mudge and Son, 1863. First edition. Little is known of the woman who composed the six poems that comprise this privately printed collection. Includes the frequently anthologized The Wood of Gettysburg. 16mo. Original pebbled brown cloth binding, with blind-stamped decorations and gilt titles. Just a hint of foxing to the contents, with some light wear to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.

Established in 1981, johnson rare books & archives is located at The Book Shop in downtown Covina, about 20 miles east of Los Angeles. The shop is open six days a week and houses an inventory of some 30,000 titles, ranging from the general second-hand to the truly antiquarian.
