Morgan, one of America's first anthropologists, assembled for the New York State Cabinet of Natural History a comprehensive nineteenth century collection of Iroquois-made artifacts. It featured more than 500 objects and at the time it was the largest such collection for a single Indian group. It was destroyed by fire in 1911. Much on the life of Lewis H.
