Octavo. 7 1/4 in. x 5 in. Rebound in teal calf, wtih gilt lettering to spine. Four raised bands (five compartments) with gilt lettering to compartments two (title) and four (author). Stone-marbled endpapers. Contains rather gruesome blow by blow accounts of white retribution (ambushing, shooting and scalping) against a gathering of Indians preparing to leave on another attacking, scalp-gathering war party. One or two tiny, barely noticeable dents to leather boards. Pages clean, bright and supple.
