The true First Edition of this title in the Voyages Extraordinaires series by Verne. Serialized publication began in Vol. 19 in January of 1874 and continued through December of 1875 in Vol. 22. The full book was not published until November, 1875. Contained in four volumes, bound in 3/4 black leather over marbled paper-covered boards, approx. 380 pages in each volume. Each volume with contents page, the Verne title collates as complete. Numerous illustrations by J. Ferat [engraving by Charles Barbant] throughout. Pages clean with occasional light age toning, institutional ink stamps on the first page of each volume. Bindings rubbed and worn, all spines with functional reback using black cloth, without spine labels, bindings now square and tight; institutional treatments on the marbled endpapers. Rare complete serialization preceding the book publication, complete.
