First edition. Six interconnected short stories about an old Ute Indian, Lo-To-Kah involving Native American supernaturalism. Twelve inserted plates with illustrations by Charles Craig and L. Maynard Dixon. This was the first book appearance of L. Maynard Dixon. Dixon was an American artist known for his paintings focused on the American West. Dixon is considered one of the finest artists who dedicated most of their art to the U.S. Southwestern cultures and landscapes at the end of the 19th-century and the first half of the 20th-century.
