Item description from seller

First edition, first printing of Hofmann's fascinating account of his discovery of LSD – the systematic research, the incredible accidents and the frightening personal experiment that was the first LSD trip. Hoffman also discusses the complexity of the moral dilemma posed by a substance that offers such promise yet carries within it such danger, along with detailing the societal and philosophical effects of his discovery. Translated by Jonathan Ott. Uncommon in the first edition. New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1980. Publisher's original black cloth, spine lettered in orange; pp. xiii, [1], 209, [1]. A near fine copy in a very good, unclippped dust jacket. Binding remains tight, sturdy and square, minimal wear to boards with a bump to top edge of text block. Internally clean and fine. Jacket shows light general shelfwear and rubbing. Protected in archival mylar.
