Presumed First Edition (despite dustjacket boast of 20,000 copies sold - this is very likely a marketing ploy). A science fiction fantasy novel of a young Arctic explorer transformed during brain surgery into a Viking prince who sails through space and time in search of America. Ownership bookplate of Stephen J. Takacs, a noted science-fiction collector and dealer who operated one of the nation's first sci-fi bookstores in the 1950s-60s in New York City. Striking design in Art Deco style of a man and a rocket ship soaring out of an open book. Very Good, neat prior owner signature from 1937 on the front free endpaper, in nearly Very Good dustjacket, nickel sized chip at lower front panel, some nicking and soiling to panels.
