Item description from seller

SUBTITLED : ` A Popular History of Prince Edward Island '. The French referred to it as Ile St. Jean and didn't see much potential in it. By 1751 the island was home to 2,000 Acadians - people not thrilled with anything British. These 192 pages - with index - cover the time periods from Micmac Indians to the Fixed Link plebiscite. LEARN about : Butcher Market, Malpeque, hemlock, dunes, tenant-farmers, Confederation, Irish Moss, ship-building, and Sieur Francois Doublet. B/W photographs complement the text. Also some tabular data. At least one map.Cond ; Paper wrapper is rusty red - think plowed red soil. Lettering is white. Minor edge wear. Clean. No tears, no marks. Excellent reading copy. Quote (p. 84) : " As there were no banks on the Island, Pearce went to his neighbours for help. They traded their Spanish coins for his local coins, and Pearce hurried back to his farm. When he arrived, Edward Abell and his servant were leading his horse away. Thinking that he was just ._._._. ." Size: 8vo.
