Near Fine with light shelf wear.A descendant of the poet Robert Herrick, Samuel Herrick Jr. (1911-1974) was an astronomer who worked with Robert Goddard on celestial mechanics and rocket navigation, contributing to the development of the American space program. His papers are held at Virginia Tech; he is described by that institution as being "generally recognized as the founder of the field of astrodymanics.".
