The Second Boer War begun just two days after the date Haggard finished his author's note. In the original publisher's paper wraps, in a custom quarter morocco chemise. Externally, generally smart. Wraps are a little edge worn and discoloured, with a few minor marks and spots, a little heavier to the rear wrap. Small tears to the head and tail of the front joint. Light wear to the spine. Rear hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Chemise is in a fine condition. Good.
