About this Item
A vanishingly scarce first edition of this historical depiction of the last days of Charles II's reign. First edition, in the publisher's original red cloth binding. Very scarce. Written by Sir Raymond Crawfurd, a British physician and writer whose medical knowledge influenced his writing greatly. 'The Last Days of Charles II' was Crawfurd's first work. At the time of King Charles II's death in 1685, it was initially recorded as poisoning. However, medical professionals have since disputed this fact, with this particular writing by Crawfurd documenting and revising the facts of the passing, with a medical explanation. With four illustrations and a frontispiece of Charles II. Collated, complete. In the publisher's red cloth binding. Externally, smart, with slight fading to the spine and to the extremities. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The odd mark to boards, mainly to the rear. The odd spot to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 879Q18
