The first edition of this poignant volume of short stories by Alun Lewis, most of which concern World War Two. The first edition, first impression.In the original unclipped dust wrapper.An anthology of twenty-three stories by Alun Lewis.Eighteen of these tales are concerned with the author's experiences in World War Two, a brooding collection.Lewis died during the Burma campaign against the Imperial Japanese Army in March 1944. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Extremities are a little rubbed. A couple of light marks to the cloth. Dust wrapper is edge worn, with small chips and closed tears, larger tear to the front fly leaf. Spine is a little faded. Light rubbing and handling marks to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed.
