VG. Generally clean wrappers, with evidence of edgewear, some rubbing to spine corners, and a reading crease on front wrap adjacent to spine. There is also a hand-lettered spine label that may be "LF" but looks rather more like the word "IF"; the label might be successfully removed, although we have opted to leave that decision to the book's new owner. Glued binding remains supple and sound. Internally clean, with no names, underlining, highlighting, marks, or dogears. Pages are clean and clear. Stated first edition thus, this reprinting was issued in 1988 to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of the author's birth. Contains the titular novella and six short stories. Illustrated with a few B/W photos and a B/W drawing. From the back wrap: "Said the New York Times of Last September: 'It places Miss Hull in the company of novelists like Edith Wharton and Willa Cather. [it] will live as a classic equal in stature to Ethan Frome and The Red Badge of Courage.'".

Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 2 business days, often within 24 hours. We ship books well-protected in boxes or padded mailers. There may be an additional cost for items over 2 lbs.
**A word about our shipping rate: ** In comparison to some other sellers, our shipping fees may seem high. We do try to keep our fees in line with current U.S. postal rates and our cost of shipping supplies, both of which increase regularly. The current cost to ship a book weighing up to 1 lb via post office media mail is $4.47. We package books with care, and also use recycled packaging when we can.
U.S. Domestic Priority Mail rates are based on the small flat rate box or flat rate padded envelope. If you choose U.S. Domestic Priority shipping, your rate may be adjusted depending on the size and shape of the book(s) ordered.
The United States Postal Service requires the recipient's full name or a company name. If an order is placed by a purchaser lacking a last name, we will attempt to contact the purchaser by the associated email address to ascertain a last name. In no case will we accept an order, or send a book, without the recipient's last name.
We always issue a tracking number after shipping an order.
International Shipping rates are subject to review, and adjustment before sale is finalized. Orders weighing over 2 lbs will likely require an additional cost.
