Blue cloth boards with gold title and border on front. Faded title on spine. Faint imprint of a glass on front cover. Red dye on top edge is faded and side edge has foxing. Inner pages are tight and clean, except for six that have some kind of staining, as pictured. This book won the Pulitzer Prize in 1938. It satirizes Boston's upper class in the Gilded Age, through the personal papers of (fictional) George Apley. First edition, second printing. 354 pages.8 3/8 x 5 3/4 x 1 3/8.
