When Illinois governor and long-time Wilson admirer Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65) was the Democratic presidential candidate for the first time in 1952, he was presented this copy from someone whose signature alas is indecipherable -- front flyleaf is boldly inscribed in black ink "To Adlai Stevenson: / With the warmest regards / [ ? ] / Dec 10 / 52."
