8vo 8" - 9" tall; 118 pages; 1st US edition of this uncommon pioneering work on paralysis and spinal cord damage. "Heirs of Hippocrates 1842" Original blind stamped brown cloth; binding sound. The top inch and a half of cloth spine edge is chipped and missing; the larger part of the gilt blocked title to spine chipped off. Some much more mild chipping to cloth at board edge and corners. Original endpages clean and intact with no splitting. Collated and complete. Would benefit from professional rebacking/recasing; still a clean and solidly bound copy of an exceptionally uncommon and quite significant book in the history of medicine.
