The Letters and Friendships of Sir Cecil Spring Rice; A Record. Edited by Stephen Gwynn. Sir Cecil Spring Rice (1859-1918), was a British Diplomat and Ambassador to the United States from 1912-1918, where he organised efforts to end American neutrality during the First World War. Published by Constable & Co Ltd, London, 1929 first edition. A good set of 2 burgundy cloth hardbacks. Some scuffing, shelf wear and bumping to extremities. Gilt titles to spine. Books are soundly bound, but with a little give in the spine. Text is bright and clean throughout. Some light spotting to endpapers. Text block edges with noticeable spotting. Gilt top edge. All Plates present as called for. Text in English. Vol I: vi + (vii-vii) + 504pp + 4 Plates including Portrait Frontispiece; Vol II: (vi) + 462pp + 4 Plates including Portrait Frontispiece. Weight: approximately 1341g (the set - unpacked). Dimensions: Each volume approximately 226mm tall x 155mm wide x 38mm deep. More photos on request.
