The uncommon first edition of this collection of impressions of the Holy Land, beautifully depicted in colour by Elizabeth Thompson. The first edition, first impression of this work. An uncommon copy. A collection of letters by Elizabeth Thompson [later known as Lady Butlet] descriptive of her impressions of Palestine, the Holy Land, written to her mother and published at her request. Beautifully depicted with sixteen coloured plates sketches by the author.Elizabeth Butler was a British painter, known for painting scenes from British military campaigns and battles, including the Crimean War and the Napoleonic Wars. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally sound with minor shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Light soiling to the boards, a touch of darkening to the spine. Previous owner's inscription to the front pastedown, dated 1938. Light spotting scattered to the leaves. Beautifully depicted with sixteen coloured plates sketches by the author. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 802A54
