Light brown boards with five raised bands and gilt lettering and illustration in the compartment; covers have debossed illustration; marbled endpapers and gilt illustrations ifc and ibc; textblock edges are marbled; 264 pp.; richly illustrated; 113 numbered illustrations; folded map. This is a beautiful first edition (Volume I Only). There is no plate 23, but it is not missing, as other copies for sale note the lack of plate 23 as standard in these copies. Folded map is in incredible condition for a book of its age. The map is lightly toned, but cleanly folded and undisturbed. "Written during eight years' travel amongst the wildest tribes of Indians in North America, in 1832, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39 : in two volumes, with four hundred illustrations, carefully engraved from his original paintings." -- WorldCat. Total of 113 illustrations, which includes the frontis, folded map, and lack of plate 23 in an apparent numbering error on the part of the publisher. Bookplates on ifc and ffep read "Crom A Boo; Carton Library" and "Ex Libris; Mrs. Henry Moore." Current stock occupies over 2.3 miles of shelving. We are active buyers as well as very active sellers, and supply entire reference libraries as well as individual titles. We ship books almost everywhere, with the exception of China due to restrictions. ASSUMPTIONS: By ordering a book from me, I will assume you have read my terms of
sale and agree to them. Once the books leave my hands, any non-delivery issue is between you and the
post office or other delivering party. If you refuse insurance, I want you to
know in advance I DO NOT REFUND for non-delivered books, nor the postage

We love our books and our customers, but we simply cannot afford to be a lending reference library.

SHIPPING: USPS shipping rates are not determined by the purchaser. All quoted shipping costs from ABEare based on a 4-pound package. If your shipment is over 4 lbs. it will be adjusted before shipping. If it needs to be increased, we will contact you through ABEbooks and request an increase to cover our costs, which include postage materials and time. Mullen Books will make the final determination on carrier based on cost and delivery dates unless given specific instructions from the buyer PRIOR to the calculation of shipping costs.
