Small Octavo. First edition in English, first printing with unclipped ($2.00) dustjacket.STATED FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL FIRST PRINTING DUST-JACKET ($2.00 ON INNER FLAP). Ten letters from Rilke to Franz Kappus about living a life of beauty, independence, and solitude. First published in German in 1929, here in English translation for the first time. SCARCE with original unclipped dustjacket. CONDITION: Very good in good+ dustjacket. Mylar-protected jacket with some chipping along edges. NOT price-clipped (first printing price of $2.00 on inside flap). Internally clean and bright with half a dozen or so pages with light lines along important passages in light ink. Former owner name unobtrusively written in ink to upper corner of front free endpaper.
