xxiv, 83 pp. Illus. with 8 b/w plates. Sm. 4to. John Morris (1580-1658) was a wealthy dilettante, ranked among the second wealthiest groups of inhabitants of London. " But despite his dilettantism and sterility of his scholarship, Morris was a first rate bookman. Although his library [consisting of 1500 volumes] contains few incunables, he had a lively interest in typography and in the dissemenation of printing. Even more important was his thorough knowledge of the London book-trade.".
