(cgc) Sir George Simpson's copy with his faint but clear signature on the free fly. . T.P.L. 3358. Morgan p116. Watters p496. The author was a fur-trader', businessman, politician, and writer who spent ten years in the service of the Hudson's Bay Company before settling in St. Thomas. He made a successful career as a banker and founded the St. Thomas Standard. Although he had disliked his early life in the fur trade, he defended the Hudson's Bay Company in his book The Hudson's Bay Territories (1858).
