Irving's comprehensive biography of his namesake which was finalized shortly before his passing in 1859. Well researched and complete history. Author is known for classics Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Complete set of five volumes. Copyright G.P Putnam 1856, 1857 on all volumes. Geoffrey Crayon Edition. Volume I, II, II, IV printed in 1893, no date given for Vol V.

Exterior: Dark blue covers with gold embossing. Minimal wear and no discoloration. Vols. I and III have slight damage at top of spine, one with loosened binding. Binding on all others is tight. Interior: Very clean with no markings. Pages bright and clear. Frontispiece in each volume. Numerous portraits and several battle maps included in text.
