The Life & Letters of Charles Darwin. 2 Volumes. [1899] authorized edition (later printing of first edition); Appleton; good late antiquarian hardcovers. Illustrated. Deep red cloth bindings with gold text on spines. Both show some rubbing to spine, but Volume 2 bears heavier rubbing to gilt stamping. Normal handling wear, rubbing to boards, edgewear, light bumping. Heaviest external wear to Volume 1 at upper bound corner of front board and Volume 2 at upper right edge. Both volumes tight and square; unmarked internally. Texts are tidy and clean; quite crisp. They appear generally unread. Top edges gilded.
