Item description from seller

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1892. First edition. Original buckram, gilt-decorated. Frontis and 5 plates, 435 pp. Allston lived a long while in England where he was an intimate of Coleridge. He was brother-in-law to Richard Henry Dana, Sr., who gathered much of the material for this life but was unable to put it all together. A reading copy, only, as a rodent has nibbled the cloth on the front fore-edge and there are stains on the covers. These are the only faults.
