Octavo, 430 pp.; illustrations executed with distinctive style by Will Harmuth for this true first edition. As New; immaculate and pristine. See scans. Franklin's lavish leather binding of the First Edition of West's 1979 quasi-autobiographical (but definitely fictional) novel about a quaker girl growing through the challenges, adventures and dilemmas of her time. Full rich red top grain leather, gilt decorated and imprinted, spine panels rib divided, All Edges Gilt, gold moire endpapers, and a matching satin page-marker ribbon. The gilt is 22 karat; the paper is 60-pound Franklin Library '1854' White book sheet, typeface is 10-point Baskerville. The Franklin Library, doing what they did best. As New, and never read; has been protectively archived since arrival. Page-marker ribbon has in fact never been moved. Please review scans. With "A Special Message to the members of The First Edition Society" by Snow prefacing the novel (with laser printed signature); the scarce, separate "Notes from the Editors". That pamphlet does show faint toning at top front, and trace soil at bottom back cover. The book itself is of course fully pristine in every way. Please see all scans.
