Life of Python

Hardback First Edition Since the first edition of Monty Python's Flying Circus was transmitted on 5th October, 1969, the name of Python has seared itself into the public consciousness in a way unrivalled by any other group of twentieth century humourists. This book, writted by an acclaimed historian of the British cinema, who is also a friend and contemporary of the Pythons, closely examines the enormours creative output from this unique band of comedians. Based on interviews with the Pythons and others associated with them, the author profiles each of the team in depth for the first time - John Cleese, Michael Palin, Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam - describing their backgrounds, their education, and individual creative achievements. Copiously illustrated with stills and memorabilia, the book provides as objective and authoritative an account as possible of The Life of Python, and manages to avoid the twin pitfalls of over-analytical pseudery or a flippancy that could only trivialise the remarkable international achievements of these six extraordinarily talented individuals.
