12mo. Pp. xiv, 408. Frontis. engraved portrait with tissue guard. Bound in textured light red cloth, blind stamped cover decoration, gilt stamped spine title and eagle motif. Edges sprinkled. Spine sunned & ends worn, covers a little soiled, pencilled calculation on endpaper, leaves moderately foxed else crisp and bright. A particularly fresh copy of Smucker's laudatory treatment of Hamilton, expressing his desire to backfill where the memoir written by Hamilton's son, John, was deficient. A fine example of the publisher's stamped cloth.
