The first appearance, published serially in 6 installments, illustrated with full-page drawings by Wall, three-quarter leather and pebbled cloth, raised bands at spine, gilt titles, edges, pastedowns, and endpapers marbled, bookplate at front pastedown, minor general wear, overall a nice, tight copy, with clean, bright contents. These installments would be published later in the year as The Road, curiously, by the MacMillan Company, and not Century. Includes My Life in the Underworld: A Reminiscence and a Confession (the opening segment) / Holding her Down / Pinched: A Prison Experience / The Pen: Long Days in a County Penitentiary / Pictures: Stray Memories of Life in the Underworld / The March of Kelly's Army: The Story of an Extraordinary Migration. Scarce.

Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 24 hours.
We are frequently noted to refund postage to International buyers when the
items are small or otherwise cheaper to ship than the Abebooks estimates.
DOMESTIC SHIPPING: We ship domestic by media mail to save buyers money, or priority mail by request. If additional
postage is necessary, we will notify you, although we frequently absorb the additional cost ourselves as a small gesture of appreciation to our buyers.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: All we can say is it is expensive. Please check the United States Postal Service website for shipping estimates. PLEASE BE ADVISED INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING FREQUENTLY EXCEEDS ABEBOOKS ESTIMATES, BUT WE ROUTINELY CHECK RATES WITH PARCEL MONKEY TO TRY TO SAVE ON INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.
