About this Item

A very good copy of the First Edition. Coarse red cloth binding with gilt lettering and decoration to the spine and front board. The cloth is slightly grubby with darkening to the spine and some minor wear to the spine tips. The binding is tight with square, unbumped corners and uncracked end-papers. The contents are clean and bright with no ownership inscriptions or other markings of any kind. Eight page publisher's catalogue bound in at the rear of the volume. Overall a very sound copy of this scarce first edition. Subtitled 'Being Stories of Mine Own People', Kipling wrote that these tales are 'from all places and all sorts of people'.
