With a preface and an index of the subjects and the passages of the scripture referred to.With chapters studying Mesopotamian documents illustrating Genesis, Egypt and Syria, the Exodus, Assyrian warfare and military engines, monuments, and more.Including a thorough list of the proper names in the Old and New Testaments, with the signification of most of them in the original languages, and the ancient and modern equivalents of the principal geographical designations.Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece, numerous full plates, some in colour, and a copious amount of illustrations in text. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities. The cloth to the spine has slightly darkened and presents a few rubs. With Gerald Henry Rendall's bookplate to the front pastedown, and a library plate to the front free endpaper, as well as a small library stamp to the verso of the title page and the occasional plate, as well as to the top gutter of page 1. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean. Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece, numerous full plates, some in colour, and a copious amount of illustrations in text.
