Add to basketThis is an antique hardcover edition of the novel "The Light That Failed" by Rudyard Kipling, published by Doubleday, Page & Company for Review of Reviews Co. in 1916. The Light That Failed, initially published in 1890 in Lippincott's Monthly Magazine. Dick Heldar is a war correspondent & ab artist, known for the drawings he sends home to the London papers from wars in exotic places like Sudan. When he returns to London he attempts to make a career for himself and meets his sweetheart Maisie. He learns of his vision failing as a result of a head injury he received during the war. As his vision fails, so does his dreams.( Goodreads ) The book, features a publisher's emblem on the front panel and a swastika symbol on an interior page which was used by Kipling as a good luck symbol before it was appropriated by the NAZI Party. This is in Good Vintage condition with a red cloth boards. There is a prior owner name tag on the inside cover, but the pages are free from marks or damage. The binding is sturdy but faded on the spine. Surface wear to exterior. (see pics).
