About this Item

First edition, first state with advertisements in the back dated, "March, 1895." Bound in original black cloth over boards with gilded lettering on the spine. Professionally rebacked with the original spine laid down over new black cloth. Some scratches and rubbing to boards with edge wear. Slight lean, but generally solid. All edges untrimmed. Blue floral endpapers with 2 small stickers from old bookstores on the front pastedown and ffep. Bookplate on the ffep verso from J. B. Priestly, unable to confirm if it is the 20th century author. Pencil notes from a previous seller to half title. One shallow but long tear to upper margin of leaf 273/274. The interior is gently and evenly toned throughout. It is free from underlining or notes. Pages:(8) 352 (32 ads) Dimensions:7(13/16) x 5� x 1�.
