The Emin Pasha Relief Expedition of 1887 to 1889 was one of the last major European expeditions into the interior of Africa in the nineteenth century. Led by Henry Morton Stanley, its goal was ostensibly the relief of Emin Pasha, the besieged Egyptian governor of Equatoria (part of modern-day South Sudan), who was threatened by Mahdist forces. Contains (xviii), 269 pp with plates in line and half tone throughout. Front free end paper absent, relevant ink note to margin of pp 63, foxing to the page edges. Good condition book in Very Good condition dust wrapper with slight sun fading down the spine, not price clipped. Member of the P.B.F.A. NORTH AFRICA [Sudan].
