Contains 12 short descriptions of wonderfully clich�d literary characters, including "The Earnest Reviewer", "The Unpublishable Novelist" and "The Publisher's Adviser". These little sketches are reprinted from Jonathan Cape's in-house journal, "Now & Then" and although no author is credited it is easy to see the wit of the journal's editor, and Cape's reader, Daniel George, at work here. This little booklet was printed at the Alden Press on Spalding & Hodge mould-made paper and published privately by Cape for distribution to their "friends" for Christmas 1954. Covers are slightly browned, but a very good copy indeed.
