Very fine hardcover copy with dust jacket. The first UK edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Thomas Berger (1924-2014) was an American novelist who explored many genres. In this work, his best known novel, Berger created a satire of the western genre. It is a picaresque novel which was adapted into a popular 1970 film starring Dustin Hoffman, Chief Dan George, and Faye Dunnaway. George was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
