The Little Red Engine Gets a Name

Not dated. [1942] Not dated. Oblong 8vo. Bound in original pictorial paper covered boards. [32pp] Board edges a little worn, a piece of sellotape around the lower spine. The book is printed on cheap war time thin paper. Inside an inscription is dated Christmas 1948 in neat adult ink, there is indentation of a child juvenile hand writing on one page, contents a little loose, /shaken, four pages have short 5mm marginal tears, one page has the number 6 written in biro and the colour illustration opposite has some slight damage where it has stuck onto the facing page with text.Please look at photos carefully. A good copy only. Title first published by Faber & Faber in 1942 ~ illustrated by Jan Lewitt and George Him, notable graphic designers in partnership as Lewitt-Him for many years. Subsequent titles, beginning with The Story of the Little Red Engine were illustrated by Leslie Wood.
