She first came to Western Canada in 1911, when her mother bought a small ranch near Priddis. Cond : Paper wrapper is white (and yellow) with back lettering. Front cover (colour) photo of Ms. Rummel (aged 68) in her cabin. Minimal soiling. Light general wear. No names nor marks. Tight in binding. Excellent reading copy. QUote (p. 61) : " The following day Al Gaetz returned with a better cookstove and skied with the girls to the Alpine Club huts (now the Naiset Cabins) and borrowed the Club toboggan to haul the stove up to Sunburst Cabin. About the Author
Ruth Oltmann came to Alberta thirty-five years ago from eastern Canada and has been hiking and climbing in the Rocky Mountains every since. She moved to the mountains ìfor six monthsî in 1970, and since then has run youth hostels at Spray River, Castle Mountain, and Ribbon Creek and worked as a cook at Skoki Lodge, Bugaboo Lodge, and the Kananaskis Centre for Environmental Research. She is the author of a history of the region, The Kananaskis Story.
